IBUAM 2026/2027 Admissions Cut-Off Points: What You Need to Know Before You Apply

Admissions for the 2026/2027 academic session are officially open at IBUAM. Find out the official JAMB cut-off marks for all 11 departments and how to apply.

Admissions for the 2026/2027 academic session are officially open at Isaac Balami University of Aeronautics and Management (IBUAM) — Nigeria's first and only dedicated aviation and management university. If you have sat the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination and are considering IBUAM as your institution of choice, this article gives you everything you need to know about the official cut-off marks for each department, what your score means, and how to take the next step.

What Is a Cut-Off Mark and Why Does It Matter?

A cut-off mark is the minimum JAMB UTME score required for a candidate to be considered for admission into a specific department. It is not a guarantee of admission — meeting or exceeding the cut-off makes you eligible to proceed through the remaining stages of the admissions process, which may include post-UTME screening, document verification, and departmental selection.

At IBUAM, cut-off marks have been set across three tiers, reflecting the technical demands and specialisation levels of each programme. Understanding which tier your score falls into is the first and most important step in your application journey.

The Official 2026/2027 Cut-Off Points

Below are the officially approved JAMB cut-off marks for all 11 departments at IBUAM for the 2026/2027 academic session:

Tier One — 200 and Above: Flagship Engineering Programmes

These are the most competitive programmes at IBUAM, reflecting the high level of technical rigour involved:

Aerospace Engineering is the crown jewel of IBUAM's engineering faculty — training the next generation of aircraft designers, aerospace systems engineers, and aeronautical innovators. Mechatronics Engineering sits at the intersection of mechanical engineering, electronics, and computing, preparing graduates who can design and build the intelligent systems powering modern aviation.

Tier Two — 180 and Above: Core Engineering Programmes

IBUAM's core engineering departments form the technical backbone of the university's faculty, covering five high-demand disciplines:

A score of 180 or above puts you in a strong position to pursue any of these five dynamic programmes. Software Engineering equips you to build the digital infrastructure that runs modern aviation. Electrical and Electronics Engineering covers the power and signal systems critical to aircraft and airports. Systems Engineering approaches complex problems from a holistic, integrated perspective — highly valued in aviation design and operations. Computer Engineering bridges hardware and software, while Telecommunication Engineering focuses on the communications networks that keep aviation safe and connected.

Tier Three — 170 and Above: Computing, Aviation and Management Programmes

IBUAM's third tier covers computing, aviation business, and social science disciplines — programmes that are equally vital to the aviation ecosystem:

If you scored 170 or above, four excellent pathways are open to you. Computer Science and Information Technology build strong foundations in data, systems, and software — skills that underpin everything from airline booking platforms to air traffic control systems. Aviation Management is a unique, industry-focused programme that prepares graduates to lead airlines, airports, and aviation businesses with strategic insight. Politics, Philosophy and Economics trains critical thinkers who understand governance, policy, and the economics of complex industries, including aviation.

Your Score Is Your Starting Point — Not Your Ceiling

Whatever tier your score falls into, this is only the beginning. IBUAM is an institution that believes in developing people, not just processing applications. From the moment you step on campus, you enter an environment shaped by experienced faculty, infrastructure, and a clear sense of purpose: to produce graduates who are not just employed, but exceptional.

The cut-off mark gets you through the gate. What you do inside those walls determines everything else.
