The runway lights are on — and IBUAM's application portal is now live. Be part of Nigeria's first dedicated aviation university. Apply today at apply.ibuam.edu.ng.
There is a specific kind of energy that arrives with beginnings. It is the energy of a door opening for the very first time — hinges untested, threshold uncrossed — and on the other side of that door, a world of extraordinary possibility. On the day IBUAM welcomed its inaugural class of students, that energy was palpable across every corridor of our campus at Cappa-Oshodi, Lagos.
Isaac Balami University of Aeronautics and Management did not emerge from thin air. It was born from decades of conviction — the conviction of its founder, Engr. Isaac Balami, that Nigeria deserves a world-class institution dedicated entirely to aviation, aerospace, and management education. As a former President of the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE), Engr. Balami witnessed firsthand the gap between ambition and opportunity that constrained so many young Nigerians who dreamed of careers in the skies.
That gap is now being closed. With programmes spanning B.Sc. Aviation Management, B.Eng. Aerospace Engineering, B.Eng. Mechatronics Engineering, and several more disciplines, IBUAM offers a curriculum designed not just to educate but to equip. Every lecture hall, every laboratory, every interaction with faculty carries the weight of a promise: that the students who walk through these doors will emerge as global future stars.
There is something historically significant about being first. The inaugural class of IBUAM students are not merely enrolling in a degree programme — they are becoming part of an institution's founding story. They are the ones future alumni will hear about. They are the ones who will set the tone, the traditions, and the standard. Their names will be etched in the annals of this university long after many more generations have followed.
The university received students across its ten programmes — from those passionate about designing the aircraft of tomorrow to those who wish to run the airlines and airports of the future. The diversity of ambition in that first intake is itself a testament to how broad the scope of aviation-related careers truly is. IBUAM is here to honour and develop every one of those ambitions.
Modern education demands modern infrastructure. IBUAM has invested significantly in ensuring that students learn in an environment that reflects the industry they are entering. From engineering laboratories with contemporary equipment to a growing digital library accessible via the e-library portal, students have the tools they need from day one. The student and staff portals further ensure that academic administration is seamless, transparent, and efficient.
The runway lights are on. The first generation has arrived. And for IBUAM, for Nigeria, and for the global aviation industry — the journey has only just begun. We celebrate every student who chose to be part of this moment, and we commit to giving them the education they deserve.
IBUAM is now open for admissions for the 2026/2027 academic session. This is your invitation to become part of a founding generation — students who will one day be able to say they were there at the beginning, when a great institution was just finding its wings. Whether you are a school leaver with a passion for aviation, an engineering enthusiast, or someone who wants to shape the future of air transport management, IBUAM has a programme designed for you.
